Sri Lankan batsmen fell like nine pins to hand an easy win to India in the third ODI of the five match series. With this convincing win, India has bagged the series quite comfortable and will be looking for a whitewash. Sri Lanka meanwhile has nothing but pride to play for. But considering the way they have been playing, a whitewash seems like the only probable outcome. The fourth ODI will be played at Kolkata and the crowds are expected t come in big numbers and support the home team. India looks on course to win the fourth ODI unless Sri Lanka brings out a special performance.
Mahela Jayawardene was the lone warrior for Sri Lanka as he scored a fine century to take his side to a less than moderate total. Dilshan chipped in with a scratchy fifty at the top the order but there is nothing to write about the batting display from the visitors. They seem to be short on batting practice and are not ready for the Indian challenge more than halfway in the series. One of the biggest problems for Sri Lanka is that all their batsmen are not clicking at the same time. Matthews played a good knock in the last match while Sangakkara was in form in the initial part of the series. All these batsmen have to fire collectively to put up a big score.
India is in a comfortable position and can try out some of the bench players after winning the series in the first three matches itself. Kohli, Dhawan, Rayudu and Rahane carried on their good form to seal the victory for India. They have done well in the series and are in reckoning for the world cup squad as well. This is why they will not let their performances dip even in the last two matches. Every match will be crucial keeping the world cup in mind.
Umesh Yadav has emerged as a front runner for a place in the bowling department since the Australian pitches will be conducive for fast bowling. He has shown good control as well and not given away easy runs. Akshar Patel has been extremely handy and picked up wickets in every match. The pitches in Australia will offer some help for the spinners which would work well for him. All in all, India look in great shape to continue the momentum and beat Sri Lanka in the fourth ODI.
